Dam Safety Production Center - Huntington (DSPC-H) Industry Day The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, is currently planning a?Dam Safety Production Center, Huntington Industry Day to be held VIRTUALLY July 22, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Eastern.? Additionally, there will be Forty-Five (45) minute private sessions with the Project Delivery Team for Arkabutla Dam. These sessions will occur virtually on July 23, 2026 and July 24, 2026. These will be available to the Prime Contractor. Interested vendors for all aspects of the project are strongly encouraged to attend the session July 22.? Project Information: ARKABUTLA DAM The Arkabutla Dam Safety Modification Project is a critical infrastructure mega-project in northern Mississippi designed to reduce life safety risks associated with internal erosion failure modes along the existing outlet works. The proposed modification plan includes construction of a new outlet works located at approximately Station 171+00 along the dam and abandonment of the existing outlet works. The work requires the following features: 1. Zoned Cofferdam. Construction of a zoned cofferdam approximately 80 feet high and approximately 2,000 feet long. The cofferdam will serve as the temporary dam during outlet works construction. The Stage 1 cofferdam will be constructed of sheet pile and rock fill to a height of approximately 45 feet with 1.5H:1V side slopes. The Stage 2 cofferdam will be constructed of rolled earth to a height of approximately 80 feet with 3H:1V side slopes. The embankment will have a clay core with random-fill outer shells. The downstream slope of the cofferdam will include a 5-foot-thick chimney drain connected to a 5-foot-thick downstream horizontal filter. A 5-foot-thick blanket drain will be placed beneath the upstream shell to expedite consolidation of the embankment and impervious blanket. 2. Existing Dam Excavation. Excavation of the existing dam embankment to a depth of 80 feet on 3H:1V side slopes to construct the outlet works at an invert elevation of approximately 185.0 feet.
