Description

The U.S. Army Contracting Command - New Jersey (ACC-NJ), Picatinny Arsenal, is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources with experience in assorted light manufacturing capabilities, to included robotic welding and material finishing, and associated technologies (corporate knowledge, technical expertise, facilities, manufacturing equipment, and product acceptance test hardware). This information will help inform future U.S Government acquisition decisions and identify potential sources for the manufacture of the M205 Tripod for Heavy Machine Guns (NSN: 1005-01-586-5702) and/or the M192 Lightweight Ground Mount (LWGM) for Medium/Light Machine Guns (NSN: 1005-01-680-5028). The M205 Tripod is used with the M2/M2A1 Cal .50 Machine Guns and the MK19 40mm Grenade Machine Gun. The M192 LWGM is used with the M240B/L 7.62mm Medium Machine Guns and the M249 5.56mm Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). Both the M205 Tripod and the M192 LWGM provide a stable firing platform for delivering controlled, sustained, and accurate fire at extended ranges. Additionally, both are produced to a U.S. Government Technical Data Package (TDP). In addition, an integral Traverse & Elevating (T&E) mechanism is included as part of the M205 Tripod and M192 LWGM systems and provides controlled manipulation in both traverse and elevation. This T&E consists of a machined aluminum housing and numerous precision machined and cast parts to provide the required adjustments. The M205 Tripod’s manufacture involves various bent sheet metal parts, with intricate machined features and robotic welding to secure various attaching points. The M192 LWGM’s manufacture involves several bent sheet metal parts, as well as a space frame and legs made from metal tubing which are joined using robotic welding techniques.
